UPDATE: Coroner identifies man fatally shot on Spur Court

UPDATE JAN. 20: The Clark County Coroner has identified the man allegedly killed by his son as 46-year-old Wilson Vazquez from Las Vegas. His cause of death was gunshot wounds and it was ruled a homicide. The ruling of homicide by the coroner is not a criminal charge, only a determination of the cause of death.

Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting on Spur Court, near Alta Drive and Cimarron Road.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says it received a call about a father beating his adult son around 6 p.m. Dec. 29.

The father left the home before officers arrived, and officers say they believed there was probable cause to make an arrest. The department says they looked for the father at a nearby business but couldn't find him.

Eventually, he returned to the home. Police say the son then shot his father around 10 p.m.

The father was dead at the scene when officers arrived the 2nd time.

The son was taken into custody and is cooperating with the investigation.

The Clark County coroner will identify the deceased after notification has been made.
