LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas police have arrested one of their officers on Friday.
Officer Sean Malia was arrested on theft and embezzlement charges, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The K-9 officer has been with the department since 1998. He was taken into custody after an investigation into allegations of misusing funds from the Friends For Las Vegas Police K-9 Foundation, a 501C-3 organization.

Malia served as treasurer of the foundation and is accused of stealing more than $16,000 over two years, between 2017-2019.
He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on 12 counts of theft and one count of embezzlement, according to authorities,
Malia has been released pending a court hearing and relieved of duty. He has been placed on administrative leave without pay starting April 10.
