UPDATE AUG. 9: The police officer who shot a 15-year-old robbery suspect on Aug. 6 in Henderson has been identified as Officer Scott Alward.
Officer Alward has been employed with the Henderson Police Department since July of 2014.
He has been placed on paid administrative leave.
UPDATE AUG. 7: Henderson Police say an officer shot a 15-year-old robbery suspect following the robbery of a convenience store and brief foot pursuit.
During a news conference Wednesday afternoon, Lt. Kirk Moore explained the investigation revealed the teen robbed a 7-Eleven store at Barrett Street and Boulder Highway.
Moments later, a Henderson police officer challenged the suspect with commands to put his hands up.
Investigators say the teen ran from the officer into a nearby neighborhood.
The teen refused commands and did have an object in his hands but it turned out not to be a deadly weapon, according to authorities.
The teen was shot once in the arm and has since been released from the hospital.
The suspect's name will not be released due to his age.
The officer was placed on routine paid administrative leave during the investigation and his name is expected to be released later this week.
UPDATE 10:51 P.M. Henderson police say a man is recovering at the hospital after a shooting involving the department Tuesday night.
Officers responded to reports of a robbery at an area convenience store shortly before 9 p.m. Police say the suspect tried to run away from responding officers and the chase led to the shooting.
The man running from police was shot in the arm, according to authorities. He is stable.
No officers were injured during the incident. The shooting remains under investigation.

HENDERSON (KTNV) -- Henderson police are investigating a robbery that turned into a shooting involving the department.
The robbery happened on the the 1400 block of Boulder Highway, near Boulder Highway and Warm Springs Road.
Avoid the area of Boulder Highway and Barrett Street.
