Henderson police identify officer involved in shooting

HENDERSON (KTNV) — The officer involved in a shooting on Jan. 11 on Stufflebeam Avenue, near Galleria Drive and the U.S. 95, has been identified as Officer Eduardo Vega by the Henderson Police Department.

Officer Vega has been employed with the City of Henderson Police Department since January 2016 and is assigned to the Field Operations Bureau. He remains on paid administrative leave.

Authorities said previously the department shot an alleged burglar, identified by police as 37-year-old Joshua Watkins, during a confrontation.

Watkins was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being taken to the Henderson Detention Center.

This is the first officer-involved shooting for the department for 2021.
