Henderson police arrest 18-year-old in deadly shooting on Gibson Road

HENDERSON (KTNV) — Henderson police said detectives have made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting that took place earlier this month.

Authorities identified 18-year-old Gemari Carter as the suspected shooter in the case and he was taken into custody on Thursday.

Carter was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on one count of open murder with a deadly weapon.

Authorities were originally called to the 200 block of South Gibson Road on Oct. 2 where they discovered a 39-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound.

Henderson fire transported the 39-year-old to Sunrise Hospital where he later died.

The Clark County coroner identified the man as 39-year-old Justin Forsythe.

Henderson's police department preliminary investigation indicated that the Forsythe arrived at Carter's residence to retrieve property when the shooting occurred, with the gunman taking off from the scene before police arrived.

This was the eighth homicide in the City of Henderson in 2020.
