A teacher at Desert Pines High School on the east side of the valley has been arrested for having sex with a student.
23-year-old Jonathan A. Scheaffer was booked into Clark County Detention Center on 16 counts of sexual conduct between a school employee and a pupil between 16 and 17 years old. Bail was set at $5,000 for each count and a 48-hour hearing is scheduled for June 3.
His arrest was confirmed by the Clark County School District Police Department. According to the school's website, Scheaffer is a science teacher at the school.
Desert Pines High school is located at 3800 E. Harris Ave., which is near East Washington Avenue and North Pecos Road.
