UPDATE JAN. 14: The coroner has identified the man hit by a motorcycle near downtown Las Vegas as 52-year-old Edward Ness II, no city of residence listed. Cause of death was blunt force injuries.

ORIGINAL STORY
A male bicyclist in his 50s is dead after being hit by a motorcycle at Fremont Street and East Sahara Avenue shortly after midnight Jan. 12.

Police say the motorcycle with two riders — 35-year-old Daniel Althoff and 33-year-old Monica Ayotte — was traveling south on Fremont Street when it hit the bicycle in the crosswalk at Sahara.

The bicyclist was thrown off the bike and was hit by a Nissan Sentra driven by a 26-year-old female. The bicyclist was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he died.

Impairment is believed to have been a factor and Althoff was arrested. This is the 5th traffic-related fatality for 2019.
