3 arrested for possession of marijuana in Ariz.

Three people were arrested for possessing a total of 80 pounds of marijuana for sale in two separate incidents in Kingman, Ariz., over the weekend.

Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Javier Cortez-Lopez, 44, and Ma Elena Mota De Leon, 40, both of Ontario, Calif., early Saturday morning for possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 40 at milepost 51 where they found 50 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $200,000 in the vehicle.

The next evening, Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Steven Edward Taylor, 32, of Austin, Texas, for possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 40 at milepost 52 and found 30 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $120,000 in the trunk.

Cortez-Lopez, Mota De Leon and Taylor were all booked into the Mohave County Jail.

Gang and Immigration Intelligence Team Enforcement Mission detectives responded and assisted in both cases.
