Two Beatty residents have been arrested in connection with a fire last summer.

On July 5, the Nevada State Fire Marshal, in conjunction with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Beatty residents 49-year-old John Wirth and 27-year-old John Wootton in a string of incendiary fires that occurred in Beatty on Aug. 22, 2017. The sheriff's office reported that the men confessed to the fires.

Two trailers and a shed were burned at 100 Cottonwood Drive and another at 127 Second Street. The second one involved the use of a Molotov cocktail. Two people were inside the Second Street house.
