Nye County requests to reopen liquor establishments including bars, pubs

NYE COUNTY (KTNV) — Nye County has submitted a plan to the Nevada COVID-19 Mitigation and Management Task Force requesting to reopen all liquor establishments. Currently, only the establishments outside of Pahrump are open.

The county wrote bars, pubs, taverns, breweries, distilleries, and wineries should be able to reopen as Nye County as a whole has shown a declining trend in COVID-19 cases over the last few weeks.

And that liquor establishments in rural areas of Nye County have been reopened for about two weeks and have not shown an overall increase in cases when it comes to these places of businesses.

Nye County Manager Tim Sutton sent the jurisdictional assessment and action plan on Sept. 2 to the task force and wrote that liquor establishment owners and employees in the county were hurting.

During Tuesday’s Nye County Board of Commissioners meeting, the board heard from numerous individuals who are unemployed, struggling financially, in danger of losing homes, vehicles, and their businesses, according to the submitted plan.

Nye County concluded the plan writing it continues to make great strides in reducing the COVID-19 impact within the communities.
