LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced it is eliminating 112 positions due to the ongoing pandemic causing financial declines.
The LVMPD said the eliminated positions consist of 112 part-time jobs, of which 103 were filled.
Bureau commanders were provided the names of the affected employees and had until close of business April 8 to contact the employee and make notifications in person.
All affected employees will be compensated for hours worked through April 17, according to the LVMPD.
The department said Southern Nevada is experiencing unprecedented economic impacts as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, and the consequences will result in sharp declines in revenue to state and local government, which in turn will force many difficult decisions in the upcoming months.
