LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Gov. Steve Sisolak held a press conference Tuesday to provide an update on Nevada’s COVID-19 current situation.

Sisolak started the press conference by saying that he was not announcing any new restrictions.

The governor then went on to say that the White House has put the state of Nevada back in the red zone and we have the 24th highest rate in the country for new cases (about 650 per day).

Additionally, Nevada is in the orange zone for hospitalizations. The state currently ranks as the 16th highest and hospitalizations are steadily increasing. At this time, hospitals are not overwhelmed but that could change because of flu season.

The governor also talked about overcoming “COVID fatigue” and said that if we allow fatigue to take over, the virus will spread even more.

Sisolak encouraged everyone to work together, saying Nevada controls the dial through their willingness to adapt and adopt state measures.

The current positivity rate for the state is 9.1%. The rate was 14.3% on Aug. 1 but it dropped to less than half of that by mid-September. It began climbing again in the final week of the month.
