Henderson police are warning people about an uptick in card skimming at gas pumps.
The skimming occurs when someone attaches an electronic device to a gas pump or other card reader. Once a card is swiped through it, the device gathers the user's information that can then be used to commit fraud.
Some warning signs of card skimming include:
- The card slot on the reader is loose
- Double-sided tape or glue is present around the reader
- Signs the lock has been tampered with
- The transaction doesn't go through after the first swipe
