Cici's Pizza in east Las Vegas selects new mural to honor fallen officers

UPDATE MAY 24: A graduating senior at Chaparral High School won a mural contest to honor the two officers gunned down at a CiCi's Pizza.

Cassandra Sosa's artwork was selected from about a hundred entries and will go on a wall at the Stewart Avenue and Nellis Boulevard location.

Las Vegas officers Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo were killed while eating lunch there in 2014.

Cassandra's mural will be unveiled at the restaurant on June 7.

She also won free CiCi's Pizza for life, according to a restaurant spokesperson.

A Cici's Pizza located in east Las Vegas will be hosting an art contest for a mural that will honor first responders in the Las Vegas community.

Metropolitan Police officers Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo were dining at this CiCi's, near Stewart Avenue and Nellis Boulevard, when Jerad and Amanda Miller ambushed them on June 8, 2014.

As the community approaches the 5-year mark of this deadly incident, the pizzeria is asking art students from the Clark County School District to participate in a new mural.

The winning student's art will then be featured in the mural that is scheduled to be painted inside the restaurant.

Interested students have been asked to bring art honoring the work of first responders in the Las Vegas community to the pizzeria, located at 309 N. Nellis Blvd., by Monday, May 13.

The winning artist will receive free pizza for life and be honored at the mural unveiling on June 7 with their family.
