UPDATE: Child dies after hit by vehicle in St. Rose Pediatrics parking lot

UPDATE ON MAY 9: The Clark County Coroner says that the child who was struck by a vehicle at the St. Rose Pediatrics parking lot was pronounced dead on May 8.

The death marks the 42nd traffic fatality under the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction for 2018.

This case remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.


Around 3:15 p.m. Monday, a child was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of St. Rose Pediatrics at 6980 South Cimarron Road, near the 215 Beltway and Durango Drive.

Police said the 2-year-old girl was walking south between parked vehicles as a westbound Mercedes Benz SUV was traveling behind the parked vehicles. The girl walked into the travel way and was contacted by the right side of the Mercedes Benz as it passed. 

The girl was airlifted to University Medical Center with sustained serious injuries and said to be in critical condition.

The operator of the Mercedes Benz remained at the scene to report the incident to police. 

The girl was under direct supervision of her mother when the collision occurred.
