A local clock store owner is frustrated with police response after a thief made off with thousands of dollars worth of gold jewelry.

"Chase him out the door and too late," Jorge Souza said.

Surveillance video shows Souza was just six seconds behind the thief as he made his way to the getaway car waiting outside JCC Clocks & Antiques around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Hours after the crime, he was still waiting for police to arrive at the store near Charleston Boulevard and Main Street.

"I called them the minute these guys walked out the door.  They kept me me on the phone for half an hour," Souza said. "Just before five, haven't heard from anybody."

When the couple headed home around 6 p.m. officers still hadn’t been to the store.

Souza and his wife say that's what they've come to expect recently.

That's why they reached out to 13 Action News in hopes of catching the thief and getaway driver.

"We've been broken three times.  Nobody ever catches anybody.  I'm just sick and frustrated with it," Souza said.
The thief dropped a single pair of earrings as he jumped into the getaway car.

But Souza says he got away with much more.

The pair says they know other businesses in the area are dealing with the same problem.

“Down here has been really bad lately," Jean Souza said.

The Souzas already have motion sensors and 17 security cameras up around the business, but there is one thing they won't do.

"I'm not going to put up bars. I'm not doing that.  That's when I will close up business if it comes to that," Jorge Souza said.

The pair hopes getting video of the suspect and the getaway car out there will do officers jobs for them.

They are asking anyone with information to call the store at (702) 384-TIME (8463).

They are offering a reward.
