BOULDER CITY (KTNV) — Police in Boulder City are warning residents of a mountain lion sighting over the weekend and recommend people keep an eye on their pets.

In a Facebook post on the city's official account, authorities said the sighting happened shortly before 9 p.m. on Sunday on Birch Street. They also said a dead dog was found in the area recently and they believe it was the victim of a mountain lion attack.

Back in January, 13 Action News spoke to Doug Nielson, the conservation education supervisor for the Nevada Department of Wild Life, about coyote sightings in the Las Vegas valley. At that time, Nielson suggested pet owners should not leave their pets outside as a way to protect them from harm.
