UPDATE MAY 13: The Clark County Coroner has identified the two people who were killed as 23-year-old Christy Marie Patinio and 29-year-old Zaion Hawkins from Las Vegas. Both deaths were due to blunt force injuries and both were ruled accidental.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says a fatal traffic crash happened near Blue Diamond Road and Hinson Street on May 12 at about 3:06 PM,
Police say their investigation shows a 2004 GMC Envoy was traveling eastbound on Blue Diamond Road when it entered oncoming traffic and hit a 2014 Toyota Scion that was heading westbound.
The GMC rolled over during the crash and came to its final rest on its driver side facing south.
Arriving medical personnel determined the driver of the GMC had died.
Both people in the Toyota were transported to the University Medical Center’s Trauma Center.
The passenger of the Toyota died due to her injuries at the hospital and the driver remains in critical condition at the UMC, according to police.
The death of the GMC’s driver and the Toyota’s passenger mark the 46th and 47th traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction this year.
This collision remains under investigation by LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
