Bicyclist injured, motorist arrested Thursday morning

A bicyclist is in critical condition and a motorist is under arrest after the two collided early Thursday morning.

The call was received at 7:46 a.m. Police say a male bicyclist was traveling north on Arville Street in the 4300 block when he was struck by a vehicle.

Citizens followed the vehicle and were able to direct officers to the vehicle in the area of Twain Avenue and Stober. Officers located the driver and took him or her into custody.

The bicyclist was transported to UMC Trauma with critical injuries. Fatal investigators with the Las Vegas police department were called in to investigate.

Lanes will be closed in the area until the scene is cleared.
