UPDATE: On July 9, the Clark County Coroner's Office reported that the bicyclist involved in this collision was pronounced deceased at UMC Trauma Center. This collision marks the 54th traffic related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2016. The victim has not been identified.
ORIGINAL STORY:
A bicyclist was hit by a vehicle on Friday morning near Alexander Road and Buffalo Drive.
Police say it was reported at 10:41 a.m.
Statements and evidence at the scene indicate a male bicyclist was traveling westbound in the bicycle lane on Alexander Road when a westbound Honda Fit left the travel lane and entered the westbound bicycle lane.
As the Honda entered the bicycle lane, the front of the Honda made contact with the rear of the bicycle and bicyclist.
The bicyclist was transported to UMC Trauma with critical injuries.
The driver of the Honda Fit remained at the scene and was not impaired. This collision and the identity of the bicyclist remains under investigation.
