The Best of the Badge Gala is Friday night at Red Rock hotel-casino.
The event is honoring Las Vegas police officers who have gone beyond the call of duty. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Foundation will honor more than 180 officers, including those involved in responding to 1 October.
Officers will receive either Purple Hearts, medals of honor or medals of valor to recognize their efforts. LVMPD will also present a posthumous Purple Heart award for Officer Charleston Hartfield, who lost his life the night of 1 October while assisting in the response.
