Ahead of school starting, teachers who need to stock up on supplies got a chance to do some shopping without breaking the bank.
The sixth annual Sharing is Caring Consignment Sale was held Saturday at the Greater Las Vegas Academy, near Sunset Road and Green Valley Parkway.
Teachers from across the valley put hundreds of books and classroom supplies for sale at bargain prices.
"Here in Clark County when a teacher takes over a classroom, they only have tables and chairs. They don't have books and supplies for kids," said Heather Tomkowski, director of operations for Greater Las Vegas Academy. "So teachers pay out of pocket for these items. This now gives them an opportunity to purchase them at a very low rate."
Organizers say the event has saved teachers more than $15,000 since it began.
