Firefighters say a community police volunteer helped them catch an arson suspect.
Investigators say the community patrol volunteer noticed a man smashing the window of an RV parked on a freeway offramp near the Northern Beltway and Aliante Parkway around 7 p.m. Thursday.
Firefighters say the RV quickly caught fire and as crews were responding the volunteer followed the suspect who was later arrested for arson.
Firefighters managed to get the fire under control without any injuries.
