An 85-year-old is in critical condition after a crash Wednesday morning.

Around 11:40 a.m., the crash occurred in the intersection of Bonneville Avenue and 10th Street.

Witnesses reported that a 2016 Hyundai Sonata was traveling southbound on 10th Street crossing Bonneville Avenue from a two-way posted stop sign when it was struck by a 2012 Hyundai Veloster that was traveling eastbound on Bonneville Avenue crossing 10th Street. The front of the 2012 Hyundai Veloster struck the right front of the 2016 Hyundai Sonata.

The 2012 Hyundai Veloster continued in a southeast direction over the raised curb and into concrete retaining wall bordering 601 S. 10th St. The 2016 Hyundai Sonata continued east away from the impact and the right side tires went over the raised curb on the south side of Bonneville Avenue, east of the intersection. The Hyundai Sonata continued partially on the sidewalk over a parking sign and came to rest facing east with the right side tires still on the sidewalk.

The driver of the 2012 Hyundai Veloster, Alvin Taylor, was transported by ambulance to UMC Trauma for life-threatening injuries.

The two 28-year-old occupants of the 2016 Hyundai Sonata declined medical transport. They had minor to moderate injuries.
