A 30-year-old man died in a shooting Monday night.

The Clark County coroner identified the man as Robert Dean Brown Jr. of North Las Vegas. He died of a gunshot wound to the right chest.

The shooting was reported around 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of Aviary and Deer Springs ways.

North Las Vegas police said Brown was on foot and agitated when he approached a white Nissan truck at the intersection.

Witnesses reported the 30-year-old man approached the driver's side of the Nissan truck and broke out the driver's side window of the truck.

According to witnesses, the 22-year-old driver may have acted in self defense when he fired at least one shot at Brown, striking him in his upper torso.

The driver was not injured. Additionally, inside the white Nissan truck there was an adult female passenger who was unharmed in the incident.

North Las Vegas police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
