Three teens are in custody for a suspected arson Wednesday afternoon.
The vacant house fire was reported around 2:20 p.m. in the 1000 block of North 17th Street, near Washington Avenue. The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes and the damage confined to the interior of the home.
There were no reported injuries.
The fire caused an estimated $20,000 in damage.
Neighbors told fire investigators that kids were seen running from the house just before the smoke was seen. Their description was given to Las Vegas police. A short time later, police reported that three teen were located that fit the description of the kids seen running from the house and they were being detained.
Each of the three teens, around 14 to 15 years old, will be charged by Las Vegas Fire & Rescue with one count of arson. They have been transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
