More than 100 employees were evacuated safely after a warehouse fire Wednesday evening.

At 6:48 p.m., the Clark County Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 6745 Escondito St., near Sunset and Paradise roads. Upon arrival, personnel reported smoke coming from the roof of a large food storage warehouse.

Crews made entry and experienced heavy smoke and a working fire on the interior of the warehouse. At the same time other firefighters laddered the building, cut holes to assist with visibility and ventilation of the structure, and encountered fire on the roof that was spreading fast. That fire was extinguished quickly.

Due to deteriorating conditions on the inside of the structure and a threat to the safety of the firefighters interior, the incident commander called for crews to exit the building. This was done so the fire could  be brought under control from exterior operations and the environment could be made safer before firefighters would make re-entry.

The fire was reported out around 8 p.m.

No injuries have been reported.

Damages have not been estimated.
