LAS VEGAS (AP) — The airport in Las Vegas tallied more than 3.9 million passengers in January.

Local aviation officials on Wednesday said that's a 3.3 percent increase compared with January 2018.

Domestic flights carried more than 3.5 million passengers. International carriers transported almost 300,000 customers, and more than 85,000 people took a helicopter.

Southwest Airlines continued to be the busiest carrier at McCarran International Airport despite a slight drop in customers. The airline was responsible for more than 1.3 million passengers.

Each of the other four major domestic carriers at McCarran saw an increase in passenger volume. Spirit Airlines saw the largest increase, transporting about 349,000 passengers. That's up almost 26 percent.

The airport set a record for passengers in 2018 with 49.7 million.
