LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada's marijuana enforcement chief conceded that mistakes may have been made by temporary workers evaluating applications for dispensary licenses.
But he insisted the process was fair.
Taxation Department deputy executive Jorge Pupo testified Wednesday, the ninth day of hearings before a judge in Las Vegas on a legal challenge by dozens of businesses denied new licenses last December.
The judge is being asked to block new licenses and order a do-over.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that Pupo said applicants weren't promised perfection. He said mistakes like typos could've been made during scoring.
Millions of dollars are at stake. The state says the 65 medical and recreational marijuana dispensaries currently open reported more than $608 million in sales in 12 months.
The hearing continues Thursday, and more days are likely.
