LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A 30-year-old man was fatally injured when he was hit by an SUV in east Las Vegas on Friday night.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says officers responded just before 8:30 p.m. in the area of Lamb Boulevard and Kell Lane.

"Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated a male pedestrian was crossing Lamb Boulevard eastbound, outside of a marked or implied crosswalk," police wrote in an initial statement about the investigation.

The man was hit by a Dodge Journey traveling northbound on Lamb Boulevard, police said. He sustained "mortal injuries" and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police note that the driver of the Dodge remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

"Neither speed nor driver impairment appears to be a factor," police stated.

The pedestrian's death will mark the 41st traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction so far this year. Police added that the collision remains under investigation.
