LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A major intersection is shutting down over the weekend. Hollywood and Sahara will be closed September 7 and September 8 as crews work to remove the roundabout and convert it into a full traffic signal.
According to Clark County, they made the decision to replace the roundabout for safety reasons.
The intersection will be shut down for two days, and then temporarily converted into a four-way stop with a single lane in each direction. The four-way stop will be in place until the project can be completed, which could take about three months.

There are five schools within a one mile radius of the intersection, and the construction project has some parents and other drivers worried about dropoff and pickup.
"It gets pretty congested already at the roundabout," says Rhodelyn Merculio, who lives near the intersection.
