NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — An e-bike rider was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car Sunday evening.
It happened just after 6 p.m. at the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Pecos Road, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
LVMPD said a lifted Chevrolet pickup truck was stopped at a red light heading northbound on Pecos in the right turn lane to Cheyenne.
At that time, an e-bike driver was also heading north on Pecos and bypassed the stopped traffic to make a right turn to Cheyenne, according to authorities.
The e-bike and the truck both tried to make the right turn at the same time, which knocked the e-bike rider to the ground, police said.
The e-bike driver was taken to the University Medical Center Trauma Center by emergency medical personnel, where his injuries were determined to be life-threatening.
The Chevrolet driver remained at the scene and showed signs of impairment. He was booked into the Clark County jail for applicable charges.
This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
