LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — With a disappointing double-overtime loss behind them, the Vegas Golden Knights will look to rebound against the San Jose Sharks in a Game 7 situation on Tuesday.

This matchup means fans will also need to regroup and mentally prepare for what's expected to be another intense game.

Sports psychologist Kevin Roby suggested fans check their thoughts before the puck drops.

"When people get upset about things, like Sunday's loss, it's because in many respects they are questioning what just happened - as it shouldn't have happened," Roby said. "And that demand causes a lot of frustration and anger."

Dr. Roby said fans might not be able to control the outcome of the game, but they certainly can choose how they think about it.

"Rather than thinking about 'this is stressful, this is nervewracking here.' You can choose to interpret it as excitement, and most people find that excitement has a much more pleasant experience than that of anxiety or tension," Roby said.

So, as the city looks ahead to the deciding Game 7, Dr. Roby said to enjoy the moment but keep in its perspective.

"When things are going good in the game, go ahead get into it, enjoy it. Let it give you a real blast of emotion. But when things aren't going so well, you know not to take it personally and understand its a game," Roby said.
