LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Nevada's unemployment rate is improving, but more than 200,000 Nevadans are still out of work.

Like the rest of the world, Fremont Street shut down for more than two months because of COVID-19. But now, the mall is back open and Fremont Street Experience is currently hiring.

"It’s the environment, right? You’re looking at the largest single digital display in the world. We have iconic casinos of old, the neon signs that don't exist anymore, the attraction ride, and it’s all within a six block radius," said Paul McGuire, chief marketing officer for Fremont Street Experience.

The familiar sights and sounds of Fremont Street Experience are back, and so is the need to strengthen the staff.

"As people are getting dialed into the whole COVID world, people are getting comfortable and being compliant, which allows them to come out. Our job is to bring visitation to downtown and to the city of Las Vegas. We give them all the tools to be successful," said McGuire.

With new cleaning protocols in place and five bustling blocks to cover, custodians are needed now more than ever.

"We clean the streets more than we have ever. There’s fogging, there’s certain clinical aspects of cleaning we are employing, just like everybody else. And that just requires more bodies, more attention to detail," said McGuire.

Stepped-up security means there's a need for more security dispatchers and officers. They'll work tightly together to keep guests safe, including enforcing the governor's mask mandate.

"We train you as a security officer. I think we have seven or eight people make it through the academy, the Metro [Police Department] academy. And that’s the value proposition that we provide. Security is a major major thing for us. The safety and security of our visitors are our number one priority," said McGuire.

Or maybe sending people screaming through the air at 35 miles per hour, suspended 11 stories over Fremont Street is more your speed. SlotZilla is in search of ride operators, no experience needed.

"There aren’t a lot of entertainment options available in the city of Las Vegas. This is just one that’s extremely iconic and memorable for your overall visitation," said McGuire, describing the SlotZilla zipline.

If you do get a job with Fremont Street Experience, McGuire says there's lots to like about this one-of-a-kind work environment, where every day is different than the last.

"The vibe and environment is unique and unlike anything you can experience. That’s why visitors are coming down here. At the end of the day, we’re just looking for people with great personalities who want to have fun and want to work hard and want to appreciate the fruits of their labor and the environment," said McGuire.

All of the jobs currently available with Fremont Street experience are full-time positions with competitive pay. There are other available positions, including engineering assistants and retail sales associates.
