LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Food delivery apps are trying to attract drivers to meet the increase in online orders during the pandemic.

The demand for drivers is up since many restaurant customers are staying home.

Julian Ray has almost completely switched from driving for ride-share apps to delivery apps.

He's says you should tip your drivers because they are like "waiters on wheels."

He says, "We're actually making less than minimum wage just from the delivery fee, like a waiter, its very similar to what a server would make before tips. We might spend 20, 30, 40 on one single order so reasonably we ask for some compensation."

Remember if you're looking to be a delivery driver, perks vary from app to app.

For example, Door Dash offers drivers discounts for car repairs.

And at Postmates, you can earn discounts on some brands with at least 10 deliveries per month.
