LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — CCSD has approved a new pilot program that could mean bonuses for some teachers and principals.

The board of trustees unanimously approved the program during a meeting on Thursday night.

Teachers and principals at 8 CCSD schools will be eligible for the bonuses. The schools have not been announced yet but the program will pay the employees an extra $10,000 to work at the schools.

An additional $10,000 will be given to the principals if they can raise the school's star rating by 2 levels.

Teachers could also earn an additional $5,000 based on student performance.

The program will begin in August 2019 and end in June 2022.
