Walker Furniture began delivering furniture today and a single mother was one of the first to receive a house full of furniture.
Precious Erwin could hardly contain herself when the furniture began coming through the door.
She also got a gift card in the amount of $400.
Erwin is mother to four children and life hasn't been easy for the young woman lately. She recently got out of an abusive marriage.
Her children range in age from 1 to 8. Erwin is just 25 years old.
The family was couch surfing for a little while until Erwin found an apartment. But, there wasn't much in it. Until now. Now the family has beds, couches, a dining room table and more.
Every year, members of the community nominate recipients for the annual furniture giveaway by sending letters to Walker's.
A committee then chooses who will receive a house full of furniture.
This year, they are giving furniture to 30 families in need. This is the 23rd year for the Home for the Holidays program.
