As part of the 8th Annual Soroptimist Live Your Dream Art Contest, Soroptimist International of Greater Las Vegas asked the fifth graders at Mater Academy of Nevada to create a work of art that depicts a woman who serves as a mentor or role model in their life.

They were also asked to describe how this woman serves as a mentor to them and how she inspires and/or motivates them. Over 65 students submitted artwork.

All participants were given certificates of participation at an award ceremony hosted by SIGLV and the first, second and third place winners were each given a gift card and a book of their very own to take home.

SIGLV also donated books for elementary readers to the school's library.

The top three winners were forwarded to Soroptimist International of the Americas to compete among thousands of creative works from children all over the world.

Soroptimist, an international women’s organization that works to improve the lives of women and girls, launched the Live Your Dream campaign as a way to celebrate the power and accomplishments of women, and to inspire women from all walks of life to live their dreams.
