With a sponsorship from NV Energy, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has added six new electric pedal-assist bikes to the existing RTC Bike Share program.

Southern Nevada residents continue turning to RTC Bike Share for their recreational and transportation needs. In collaboration for a greener, more sustainable future, NV Energy stepped in to help expand the fleet by sponsoring six e-bikes, which customers rent 2.5 times more often.

The state mandated shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the last several months created an overwhelming demand for the bike share program. Ridership jumped 297 percent compared to the same time last year, and the system experienced the most check-outs ever, with an average of more than a thousand rides per day in May 2020.

About the e-bikes

Branded with the green Powershift by NV Energy logo, the electric bikes are powered by a front wheel pedal-assist motor that allow riders to overcome elevation obstacles and make rides quicker with speeds up to 17 miles per hour.

The electric bikes can be rented at any of the 21 bike share locations in downtown Las Vegas.

Users can locate them in advance on the RTC Bike Share website map or the BCycle app with a lightning bolt symbol indicator appearing at each station.

The electric bikes cost an additional $1 per checkout with the purchase of any of the three pass options: 24-hour, 3-day, or monthly pass. Users can also take advantage of the summer promo until Aug. 31: 30-day pass for only $5 (67% savings).
