The Rape Crisis Center (RCC), a nonprofit that supports victims in the immediate aftermath and long-term recovery following sexual abuse, assault, and exploitation, announces a $10,000 grant from The NV Energy Foundation.

The funds will be used to help RCC advocacy and counseling clients who have been economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Daniele Staple, executive director of The Rape Crisis Center, the organization has experienced increasing demand for counseling for years leading up to and including these last months during the pandemic.

“When our counseling clients face obstacles to receiving care, we step in to help remove those barriers so they may continue with the healing journey they so desperately need,” said Staple. “This incredibly generous grant from the NV Energy Foundation goes a long way in supporting clients who have been affected by the pandemic and are struggling with transportation costs, housing costs and other basic expenses so that they can continue to heal from the trauma they have experienced without worrying about having a roof over their heads and food on the table. We so greatly appreciate their support.”

As an essential service provider, the RCC has continuously operated since the onset of COVID-19, adding telehealth services and additional health and safety protocols.
