LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A local retired Army veteran has the keys to a brand new mortgage-free home in honor of his military service.

Retired US Army Sgt. Dennis Bridges served from 2004 to 2012 and was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan where he was the recipient of a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Thursday, Bridges said his new home was a dream come true for him and his family.

"It feels like I won the lottery, for real. It does. Like I couldn't imagine anything better. And if I had won the lottery, this is probably what I would have bought," Bridges said.

The home, located near Decatur, and Charleston Boulevards, was given to Bridges by the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals and Bank of America.
