Walker Furniture is making monthly deliveries of new donated mattresses until all 30 Clark County firehouses in the Las Vegas Valley have received the bedding through “Project Firehouse: Rested & Ready.”
On Wednesday, they delivered 6 new mattresses, foundations and protectors to Firehouse Station 33 on East Desert Inn Road.
“Every delivery is special,” said Linda Alterwitz-Mizrahi, Walker Furniture co-owner, who attends every delivery. “It’s hard to imagine how much the firefighters appreciate having new mattresses considering the fire station serves as their home away from home; however, their excitement is apparent as they lineup to help unload the Walker truck.”
This delivery will make 62 new mattresses being delivered to eight CCFD stations. In total, Walker Furniture will supply all 30 firehouses with new mattresses. Watching the old mattresses being taken away tells a story of how long it’s been for our first responders to enjoy a good mattress.
