Dozens of kids got the chance to do their holiday shopping Saturday at Walmart near Charleston and Decatur boulevards.
It's part of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's annual Season of Giving event, which is part of the Season of Peace.
Police officers hope that by bringing people together for a good cause, they can help prevent crime.
"A lot of these incidents are one little moment and flashpoint in time where somebody could walk away or choose to do something different and they instead go to violence," said Deputy Chief Tom Roberts. "It's just horrible."
There are more than 30 Season of Peace events scheduled between now and the end of the year.
