The holidays might be a bit different in 2020, but Las Vegas is still a great place to celebrate. Here is what's happening around town:


Nov. 27 to Dec. 27
At the heart of Wanderland is Balanceville, a 30-foot intergalactic art sleigh illuminated in hundreds of holiday lights. Other features include an illuminated tree-lined village filled with extraterrestrial surprises, a festive path of igloos with Insta-worthy holiday vignettes, pop-up retailers Kappa Toys, Wild Muse Boutique, sweets by Emack & Bolio’s, and much more. The experience ends with a holiday photo-op inside Henry Chang’s Mad Max-esque kinetic art car, “Mister Fusion”, decked-out with AREA15’s alien friends.

Winter Wonderland
Now through Jan. 5
ARIA is lighting up the holiday season with its “Winter Wonderland” lobby display. Created by the ARIA Pastry team and on display, this year’s centerpiece is a custom-designed Sugar Palace, made out of edible ingredients and stands 15-feet high. Led by Executive Pastry Chef Mathieu Lavallee, the skilled team spent more than four weeks crafting the Sugar Palace, showcasing seven types of sugar work techniques in the pressed sugar bricks, snowflakes coated in crystal sugar, blown-sugar swans and blown and pulled flowers, among other sweet pieces.

Bellagio Conservatory & Botancial Gardens
Now through Jan. 9, 2021
The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens unwrapped its extravagant holiday display this week, inviting visitors to explore the majestic, imaginary world of Her Majesty Queen Bellissima. Decked in holiday-trimmed botanical elements, the Conservatory features a 42-foot-tall silver tip fir tree sparkling with thousands of lights, a beautiful oversized ornamental egg, four majestic horses pulling a lavishly decorated carriage and bustling elves preparing the Queen’s quarters for the season. Guests will discover four scenes set in the wondrous garden beds at Bellagio’s Conservatory, each representing a holiday tradition or magical moment in the Queen’s enchanting wonderland.

Holiday Breakfast Buzz & Mingle Drive-Thru
Dec. 12, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Free and open to the public. Bring the family to enjoy a holiday drive-thru experience with light refreshments and goodies, while supplies last.

The Nutcracker Extravaganza: Behind the Scenes
Dec. 19 to Jan. 3
DCM have joined forces to present The Nutcracker Extravaganza: Behind the Scenes. In the spirit of NBT’s beloved holiday tradition at The Smith Center, families are invited to celebrate the season and the magic of The Nutcracker with this one-of-a-kind exhibit on display for a limited time only. Museum attendees will receive an exclusive view of original Nutcracker show elements typically only seen from the stage. From the famous “flying rocking horse” to the well-known Cannon in the Battle Scene, these original set and prop pieces will be complemented by a display of over 20 costumes including handmade headpieces, tiaras and wigs worn by NBT’s professional company.

Eat, Drink and Be Merry on The Plaza
Every Friday through Sunday, Dec. 23 and Dec. 24 from 1 p.m. to. 4 p.m. Guests will be treated to live music from a talented violinist and guitar player, as well as charming performances from nutcracker dancers and sugar plum ballerinas all while dining on The Plaza.

The Front Yard
Get in the Christmas spirit at Ellis Island’s beloved restaurant, The Front Yard, which has been transformed into a Yuletide wonderland. The space, which was decorated over a three day period by the incredible team from KAC3L, now boasts 15 Christmas trees, including a stunning 15-foot tree that is elevated to the second story. The Front Yard is also now hosting Christmas Movie Nights, where diners can enjoy festive films including Elf, A Christmas Story, and claymations, in a holiday-lovers paradise. Movie showings are every Tuesday throughout December at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. and reservations can be made online.

Holiday Cactus Garden
November to January (every night)
The three-acre campus is transformed into a holiday wonderland, surrounded by the glowing lights of more than a million florescent bulbs. In addition to strolling through the magical garden, guests can also enjoy a self-guided tour of the chocolate factory, Santa meet & greet, chocolate-dipped treats and hot chocolate, a snow globe selfie station, and a seasonal chocolate tasting. Reservations required.

Holiday Stroll
Witness the unbelievable magic of the holidays at two all-new guided walk-through experiences inside Fashion Show this holiday season, such as Santa’s Workshop, where shoppers will be escorted by Mrs. Claus and her two elves through a candy cane pathway with the sweet smell of cinnamon and holiday music filling the air, and a Winter Wonderland consisting of snow-white trees, enchanting ice sculptures, and snow flurries, all leading up to a giant snow globe spectacle encompassing a beautiful real-life ballerina. Families can utilize the recently debuted Spot Holder line-queuing app to take their own private tour through each experience located on the lower level near Forever 21 every Friday through Sunday, as well as Dec. 23 and Dec. 24 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Guests may RSVP online and each ticket will accommodate up to 5 guests to ensure proper social distancing.
In addition, shoppers will be able to enjoy complimentary gift-wrapping services with the help of Fashion Show’s Gift Wrap Girls located near Guest Services from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 18 through Dec. 23 and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 24. Reservations for the gift-wrapping services can be made in the Spot Holder app.

The Nutcracker
Dec. 18, 19, & 21
The Nutcracker returns to cinemas nationally this December. Attending this timeless holiday classic is a tradition for families, and Fathom Events, BY Experience, and Pathé Live are pleased to ensure that this treasured ballet is available to audiences in local cinemas coast-to-coast, particularly at a time when gathering for local live stage productions may not be possible.

The Market Shop
In an effort to continue helping the community shop local, small, and safely during the holidays, The Market Shop at Fergusons Downtown launched virtual personal shopping. With a one-on-one appointment, conducted via Zoom, The Market Shop’s personal shoppers will walk through the available products, giving an up-close-and-personal look at anything of interest. The Market Shop offers delivery as well as curbside, and in-store pickup. The experience is cost free.

Christmas Fantasy Forest

Grand Menorah Lighting
Dec. 10 at 4:30 p.m.
Chabad of Southern Nevada will light a public 20-foot Chanukah Menorah placed at Fremont Street (corner of Las Vegas Blvd.) the 1st night of the eight-day holiday at 4:30 pm. While the scope of the ceremony will be limited amid Las Vegas’ ongoing coronavirus emergency, the lights will shine forth as brightly as ever.

Navidad en el Barrio
Dec. 24, 9 a.m. to noon.
Free and open to the public. Bring the family to enjoy a fun holiday drive-thru experience. See Santa Claus and enjoy holiday decorations on display. Giveaways and toy distribution for children present ages 2-16 while supplies last. No registration required. Sponsored by the city of Las Vegas and the Mexican Patriotic Committee of Las Vegas.

Holiday Pop- Up
Throughout the month of December, The Living Room at Gold Spike transforms into a winter wonderland complete with giant snowmen, tinsel and thousands of twinkling lights. It’s not just the décor that’s ‘lit’, Gold Spike’s Saint Nick approved cocktail menu rewards all the naughty girls and boys with $6 Bud Light holiday seltzers and a sack full of limited libations like the Baby It’s Gold Outside (peppermint schnapps, dark crème de cacao, spiced rum, hot cocoa, marshmallows) and All I Want For Christmas is Booze (Cognac, eggnog, whipped cream topping).

Journey to the North Pole
Now through Jan. 3, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The drive-through experience transports guests to a winter wonderland complete with state-of-theart lights, lasers, projections and more, all perfectly programmed to heartwarming holiday hits. Grab the hot cocoa and pack into the car for the ultimate, fun-for-allages joyride to celebrate the spirit of the season. Tickets start at $20 and are now on sale.

Downtown Summerlin
Dec. 14 at 5 p.m.
In an annual tradition, Jewish Nevada is hosting a menorah lighting ceremony at Downtown Summerlin for Hanukkah. The Hanukkah celebration will be kicked off with rabbis from across the valley lighting the ceremonial menorah. Jewish Nevada encourages the public to watch virtually as the ceremony will be livestreamed across Jewish Nevada’s social media and on its website.

Dec. to Jan. 1, 2021
The award-winning Henderson community is hosting Lake LightsVegas, a month-long socially distanced holiday celebration, with light displays, meet-and-greets with Santa and holiday tunes from the comfort of your own vehicle. Click the link above to view the long list of events.

Jingle Jam LV
Dec. 20
Las Vegas Ballpark is pleased to host the sixth annual Jingle Jam LV event to give lasting memories and gifts to local children whose families are in need of additional assistance during the 2020 holiday season. Jingle Jam LV will feature various family-friendly elf stations set throughout the concourse of the Ballpark. Registered guests will visit crafting and clothing stations, enjoy socially distanced photos taken with Santa – and more! Every child will leave with a personally wrapped gift and maybe even a bike donated by Help of Southern Nevada. Registration by invitation only. No walk-ups will be allowed.

Nov. 24 to Jan. 9 2021
Vegas Festival of Lights will illuminate a giant section of Craig Ranch Park. With the official park lighting and fireworks spectacular on Nov. 27. The cost is only $15 per guest for general admission. Santa photos are $14 per photo. Rides, games, and food are an additional fee.

Santa Photo Experience
Nov. 27 to Dec. 24
A reservation is required. For everyone’s safety this will be a socially-distanced experience for guests Santa and his helpers will be wearing masks throughout the duration of your visit. Guests are required to wear masks.

Dec. 1 to Dec.11
Celebrate the magical holidays with a letter from Santa. Stop in and “mail” your child’s letter using our decorative mailbox or mail it to Valley View Recreation Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., 500 Harris St., Henderson, NV 89015, and receive a special letter from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Find out if your child has been naughty or nice. Be sure to include information on your child so Santa can check his list twice! Ages 1-5.

Secret Santa Drive-Thru
Dec. 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Free and open to the public. Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman, Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony, Ward 1 Councilman Brian Knudsen and Ward 5 Councilmen Cedric Crear, along with many community partners, are sponsoring this year’s Secret Santa Project. Children ages 1-11 present at the event will receive a free toy. This will be a drive-thru, no-contact, toy giveaway targeted at under-privileged children. Las Vegas Great Santa Run
Dec. 5 to Dec. 26
For this year’s virtual Las Vegas Great Santa Run, Opportunity Village is welcoming Santa runners, elves and just your average Joes from all across the Las Vegas Valley and beyond to compete in its final social media campaign of the season: the Scavenger Hunt Contest.
Race registration is not required to enter, and the number of entries depends on how many locations each participant visits and posts about on social media. One sponsor visit – or photo – equals a single entry, whereas 10 entries will be given to the competitors that take photos at all locations. Participants are asked to post their picture(s) publicly on either Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, using #LVSantaRun and tagging the Santa Run pages.

Merry Crimson Pop-Up Holiday Bar
Merry Crimson is giving you yet another reason to drink this winter at the seasonally-inspired pop-up holiday bar. They've created a specialty menu of whimsical delights that taste like Christmas in a cup spiked with the perfect amount of joy. These are the most Instagram-worthy cocktails outside of the north pole. With two sections to choose from Naughty or Nice, guests will definitely feel the holiday buzz.

Merry Crimson at Red Rock

An exciting and one-of-a-kind broadcast produced in partnership with the Las Vegas Review-Journal and scheduled to air on the Cox YurView platform, Channel 14/1014 HD.

Mystic Falls Park

The holiday-themed attraction at Mystic Falls Park is a time-honored tradition that goes back to 1994. This year, families can experience the indoor atrium’s new theme, featuring animated teddy bears that have come to life and can be seen playing, dancing and decorating the park. The plush, animatronic bears were handmade this year by a family in Italy, and have traveled from Italy to Spain, Portugal, and across the United States to make it to Mystic Falls Park.

Miracle On Spring Mountain holiday pop-up bar
Nov. 23 to Jan. 10
The bar will feature live music, craft cocktail and pizza bar and will also become Miracle On Spring Mountain, the exclusive Las Vegas location of the renowned Miracle Bar Pop-up.

Mandalay Bay Resort
Shark Reef Aquarium’s Old Saint Nick – better known as “Diving Santa” – can be seen making his list and checking it twice while underwater in the popular Shipwreck exhibit, filled with sharks, sea turtles and Bowmouth Guitarfish, among other species. “Diving Santa” will appear at miscellaneous times from December 21 to 24. Additionally, guests visiting Shark Reef Aquarium December 19 to 24 will have the opportunity to take home a special photo memory with “Diving Santa.” Upon entry, a photo in front of a green screen will be captured and after a little holiday magic, the final image can be picked up at the conclusion of the aquarium visit. Children 12 and under will receive one complimentary 4”x6” image per admission purchased.

Reindeer Dash 5K Run & 1-Mile Walk
Dec. 12 at 9 a.m.
Ring in the season with a holiday fun run for the entire family. Don your best holiday apparel and jingle all the way down a 3.1-mile course along Pittman Wash Trail. T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 300 registered participants; 5K participants will receive a finisher’s medal. All fitness levels are welcome. For social distancing purposes, small groups will start at staggered times with the first wave leading off at 9 a.m. New this year is a virtual fun run/walk you can do on your own or with friends or family. Holiday in Paradise

Tropicana's Holiday in Paradise will showcase a festival of lights featuring more than 25,000 lights covering the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevard. Guests will step foot through a lighted archway welcoming them to a 20-foot Christmas Tree flanked by large lighted gift boxes and surrounded by a tropical forest of 25 palm trees and Christmas trees, all adorned with lights. The all ages free holiday experience includes a 10-foot tall live poinsettia photo wall for Instagram-worthy family photos, holiday music playing throughout the plaza and on Fridays and Saturdays starting at 3 p.m., the iconic hotel will offer a holiday pop up bar inside the outdoor Tropicana kiosk serving winter-themed and traditional cocktails, beers, as well as hot cocoa.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas Story Time & Craft
On Dec. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to noon
The Grinch will make a very special appearance and read his biography aloud. Participants will make a Grinch ornament to display on the tree at home. All ages.

Henderson's special winter holiday presentation includes activities throughout December. Some activities will be presented virtually, such as the annual tree lighting at 5 p.m. on Dec. 3 and Sights and Sounds of the City, Holiday Edition. Some activities will require registration in advance. Other activities include the Holiday Light Display (Dec. 3 to Jan. 5), Pop-up Holiday Entertainment, Cookie Crawl, and Letters to Santa.

Winter Break Kids Camp (grades K-8)

Camp ends at 6 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 3 p.m. Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.

- Annual Holiday Cookie & Ornament Decorating: Now in its fifth year, this fan-favorite workshop led by pastry chef Patrice Caillot teaches tips and techniques for decorating holiday delights, from sugar cookies to hand-decorated ornaments. Perfect for the whole family, children five years and older are welcome. Dec. 12 at 2 p.m.; $125 per person, plus tax.
- Decorating the Ultimate Gingerbread House: In this demo and workshop class, Wynn pastry chef Patrice Caillot will walk guests through decorating a gingerbread house that even Hansel and Gretel would be proud of. Children five years and older are welcome to enjoy this exciting holiday activity. Dec. 18 at 2 p.m.; $95 per person, plus tax.

Americana at Desert Shoes will offer their Christmas Eve menu from noon until 8 p.m. with several seating times available by reservation. The meal is priced at $75/pp plus tax and gratuity. Ron's Steakhouse and Sourdough Cafe
Dec. 25
Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, located at 740 S. Decatur Blvd. and Arizona Charlie’s Boulder, located at 4575 Boulder Hwy., will welcome guests to celebrate the holidays with festive cuisine at Ron’s Steakhouse and Sourdough Café. Ron’s Steakhouse, located at Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, will offer a holiday special from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., priced at $44. The dinner will include the choice of soup or salad to start and coffee-rubbed beef tenderloin served with potatoes dauphinoise and brown butter spaghetti squash as the entrée. Sourdough Café, located at both Arizona Charlie’s Decatur and Boulder, will offer a holiday special from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., priced at $18. The meal will include the choice of soup or salad to start and 12-ounce prime rib served with baked sweet potato and sage butternut squash for the entrée.

SAHARA Las Vegas
Bazaar Meat by José Andrés presents La Noche Buena Menu
Enjoy a variety of small plates at Bazaar Meat by José Andrés, including Croquetas de Pollo (creamy béchamel chicken fritters), Jamón Ibérico de Bellota hand-cut from the famous black-footed Spanish pig and many more. The Christmas Eve feast at Bazaar Meat is $95 per person. The restaurant will be open from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.

Participating locations will be open on Christmas Eve an Christmas Day.

On Christmas Day, at 11 a.m., the Buca di Beppo restaurants will be serving delicious Italian dishes. Plus, they’ll also be putting together a Holiday Cake Boss Package that serves five for $95 (retail value is $170) and can be picked up or delivered. Be sure to make reservations.

Rao’s at Caesars Palace, will offer a traditional Italian Feast of the Seven Fishes menu on Dec. 24 with a variety of à la carte seafood specials from Chef de Cuisine Fatimah Madyun. Prices for dishes on Feast of Seven Fishes menu range from $25.99 to $42.99 per dish. Rao’s will also offer Christmas day specials including Italian wedding soup, priced at $17.99; tagliolini with peas and ham, priced at $32.99; ossobuco with polenta, priced at $55.99; and panettone bread pudding, priced at $14.99.Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill will serve a specialty prix-fixe menu this Christmas, priced at $89.99 per person.Old Homestead Steakhouse will feature a prix-fixe menu, priced at $120 per person.Beijing Noodle No. 9 will offer a variety of holiday additions on its menu from Dec. 23 through Jan. 3. Selections include stir fried mussels with ginger scallion sauce, priced at $26.99; steam scallops on vermicelli with garlic sauce, priced at $39.99; Peking duck, priced at $39.99; stir fried lobster with E-Fu noodles, priced at $48.99, and more.

Guests are welcome to dine-in at Canaletto inside Grand Canal Shoppes and experience an intimate holiday gathering when booking one of the restaurant’s private dining rooms. For those seeking a convenient way to celebrate the holiday, to-go orders can also be placed ahead of time by calling (702) 733-0070.

On Dec. 25 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.Carve Prime Rib at Cannery Casino Hotel will serve a three-course holiday dinner for $29.99 per person. Diners will begin their meal with the choice of lobster bisque or a winter greens salad tossed with toasted pecans, feta cheese, cherry tomatoes and cranberry vinaigrette. The main entrée options include a slow-roasted prime rib with creamed horseradish, au jus, butter whipped potatoes and green beans amandine, or the choice of grilled Chilean sea bass served with saffron couscous, sautéed baby spinach, and lemon butter sauce. Both entrees will be served with holiday bread and butter. For dessert, guests will be served a warm molten chocolate lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream, raspberry sauce, and Chantilly whipped cream. They will also be offering an unforgettable New Year’s Eve dining experience for $45 on Dec. 31.

Beginning Dec. 25 through Jan. 3, China Poblano will also offer a holiday feast for four ($60). An optional cocktail add-on for two, with choices between prickly pear margarita ($22), classic margaritas ($20) or 5-spice old fashioned ($22). Guests looking to pick up their holiday feast on Dec. 25 to 26 should preorder by Dec. 22 at 2 p.m.; otherwise, 48 hours advance notice is requested for Dec. 27 to Jan. 3.

Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino
The holiday to-go menu is now available for pre-order till supplies last starting at $195 and serves up to 8 guests total. Pick up will be on Dec. 24 from 2 to 5 p.m. and Dec. 25 between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. For those opting to dine-in, Bottiglia will offer dine-in specials including a 3-course prix-fixe menu in tandem with the regular menu for $55 per guest. The fancy feast will be available on Dec. 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. through Dec. 25 from 2 to 9 p.m. This holiday menu will include a lobster minestrone or beef carpaccio to start followed with your choice of chicken cacciatore, veal osso buco or lobster tagliatelle for the main course. For dessert, guests can enjoy the delicious cannoli with Italian meringue, lemon ricotta creme and blackberry to end the evening.

Holly Jolly on Fremont will be an invitation for guests to experience a winter wonderland in multiple businesses: Park on Fremont and Commonwealth, which is home to one of Las Vegas’ best-kept secret cocktail bars, The Laundry Room.

On Dec. 25 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.Copper Whisk Café will be serving a flavorful “Land & Sea” holiday special for $21.99. Guests begin their meal with the choice of tortellini and spinach soup or a house salad. For the main entrée, guests will enjoy the featured “Land & Sea” dish that includes petite filet mignon and seafood Newburg nestled in a puff pastry served with croquette potatoes and the chef’s fresh vegetables. On Dec. 25 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.Cornerstone at Gold Coast Hotel and Casino will offer several delectable options on its holiday menu. For starters, guests can choose from a house salad or butternut squash bisque. As the main entrée, guests can choose the traditional tom turkey dinner for $33 served with cornbread stuffing, green beans, glazed yams, mashed Yukon potatoes, giblet gravy and cranberry relish. Enjoy Lawry’s signature cuisine while you journey back to Yuletide in Victorian England at the Cratchet home with a live performance of Dickens’ classic tale, A Christmas Carol. Chef Gina Marinelli is implementing her coastal Italian influences into her menu offerings at La Strega this holiday season. Chef Marinelli will be featuring a traditional Italian-American Christmas Eve dinner at La Strega on Dec. 24, also known as the Feast of The Seven Fishes. They will also serve a New Year’s Eve four-course special on Dec. 31 for $85.

Begin the three-course feast with a choice of French Onion Soup with gruyére, crostini and chives or a Christmas Spiced Poached Pear Salad with baby lettuces, candied walnuts and champagne vinaigrette. Then, for the main entrée, select either a Slow Roasted Prime Rib of Beef with haricots verts, watercress, crisp onions, creamy horseradish and au jus, or Grilled Salmon Filet with parsnips, broccolini, almonds, shallots, brown butter, capers and currants.
