Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada announced the seven female leaders who will be recognized at the annual Dessert Before Dinner fundraising gala on April 24, which due to COVID-19 will now be a virtual event.

Dessert Before Dinner honors outstanding female leaders who have made a significant and long-lasting impact on the Southern Nevadan community. Their vision, influence and example define what it means to be a Girl Scout – leading a life of courage, confidence, and character.

2021 Honorees and honorary Girl Scout badge awards:

Colleen Birch – Financing My Future badge
As Senior Vice President of Revenue Optimization for The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Birch oversees the resort’s pricing and optimization efforts. She joined the resort in 2009 prior to its 2010 opening and has played an instrumental role in the resorts success and financial performance.

Betsy Fretwell – Citizen Scientist badge
As Senior Vice President at Switch CITIES, Fretwell leads efforts in the deployment of new technologies, including autonomous systems, IoT, robotics and big data, for digital community initiatives and spearheads innovative public-private partnerships in communities across the country.

A founder of Global Gaming Women and an inductee of the Gaming Hall of Fame, Patty thrived in the gaming industry. Nancy has spent over 20 years as a member of the judiciary culminating with serving as a Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court. Each honoree will be awarded a unique Girl Scout badge epitomizing their contributions to their profession and community.

The annual fundraising event directly benefits local Girl Scouts who depend on financial aid to engage in outdoor experiences, STEAM activities, entrepreneurship opportunities, and life skills programs.

Postponed from an earlier date in 2020, Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada reimagined Dessert Before Dinner into a virtual experience that people can view from the comfort of their homes while enjoying a Girl Scout themed party viewing box with charcuterie, wine, and Girl Scout cookies that come with the purchase of a sponsorship or as a standalone package.

Individual viewing tickets also available.
