The Clark County Law Library is celebrating Law Day on May 1 by offering visitors a free pocket copy of the United States Constitution, while supplies last.

The 2019 theme of Law Day is “Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society.” The First Amendment to the United States Constitution protects the right to free speech, along with other rights that recognize the dignity of individuals to think, believe, worship, and communicate how they wish without fear of punishment or oppression. As George Washington once wrote, “If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”

The First Amendment also recognizes freedom of the press.

The Clark County Law Library is located at 309 S. Third St., Suite 400., in downtown Las Vegas. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Staff can be reached at (702) 455-4696 or by e-mail at AskInfo@ClarkCountyNV.gov.
