13 Things To Do This Week In Las Vegas For April 26-May 2

Here's a list of 13 things to do around the Las Vegas valley for the week of April 26 through May 2:

1. Singer Alanis Morissette is performing April 26 and 27 in the Pearl Theater at The Palms. Morissette is one of the most influential singer-songerwriter-musicians in contemporary music. She made her debut in 1995 with the album titled "Jagged Little Pill."

2. The Master Garderners of Southern Nevada is offering a herbal tea tasting and botanci garden walking tour on April 27. Teas will be made from herbs in the garden and master gardeners will be on hand to answer questions. There will also be educational demos and prizes.

3. Nathan's Famous Hot-dog Eating Contest is happening April 27 at New York-New York hotel-casino. The top male and female finishers in the event will qualify for a seat at the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4 at Coney Island where they will face reigning champions Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo of Las Vegas. It's free to watch.

4. The 16th annual Crawfish Boil is happening April 27 at Downtown Events Center. Live crawfish from Louisiana will be boiled on site. There will also be BBQ, face painting, balloon crafts, lawn games, Zydeco music and more. Proceeds benefit LSU Alumni of Las Vegas. $39 general admission.

5. Springs Preserve's 10th annual Dia del Nino event is happening April 27. The family-friendly celebration will feature an exhibit of art by Latino artists, as well as art workshops, cooking demonstrations hosted by Boyd Gaming, Leticia’s Cocina, and Pinches Tacos, and live music and entertainment on two stages. Enjoy hours of fun for children of all ages, including a petting zoo and face painting, along with magicians, clowns, and plenty of traditional food, hands-on arts and crafts, and much more. $6 general admission.

6. The annual Pirate Fest is taking place April 27 and 28 at Craig Ranch Regional Park. There will be priates, mermaids, Renaissance, steampunk and faerie characters, live entertainment, food, games and a beer garden. Kids will enjoy following a Treasure Map to complete tasks and activities such as making ropes, swabbing decks, making an eye patch or fairy wand and more.

7. Marvel's Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. at Treasure Island will be offering all visitors who present an "Avengers: Endgame" movie ticket stub $5 off admission to the exhibit through May 5, along with a special gift. The attraction is also celebration National Super Hero Day on April 28 with a super hero mask-making station, a balloon and glitter tattoo artist, 15% off certain merchandise and cosplayers.

8. Glowzone Las Vegas and Animal Network are pairing up for an adoption event from 1 to 4 p.m. April 27 at Glowzone. There will be numerous pets available for adoption that day. Anyone who adopts a pet will receive a 4-pack of all-day passes to Glowzone.

9. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be honoring active military members and veterans on April 27. They and their guests (restrictions apply) will be admitted free. All four of the track's NASCAR classes, as well as USLCI Legends, USLCI Bandoleros and Skid Plate Cars, will be racing.

10. The 27th annual Las Vegas City of Lights Jazz and R&B Festival is happening April 27-28 at Clark County Government Center. Performers include Vivian Green, Lenny Williams, Incognito, Johnny Gill, Melanie Fiona, Anthony Hamilton and others will perform.

11. The "Femmes of Rock LIVE" is happening April 27 at the Westgate hotel-casino. The show features Bella Electric Strings, led by rock violinist and arranger Nina DiGregorio, performing music of Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Queen, Prince, The Eagles and more.

12. The Las Vegas Film Festival presented by Zappos is taking place April 28 through May 5 at in Downtown Las Vegas and Brenden Theatres at The Palms. The LVFF pushes the boundaries of cinema, annually presenting work by passionate, rebellious, and wild storytellers. There will also be Q&A sessions and private parties.

13. Miller's Ale House is hosting the Firefighter Bachelor Auction Pick Party on April 28. Help the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation pick firefighters for this years fundraising auction.
