A shelter in Carson City recently needed a foster family for a litter of kittens.

After they were unable to find one, they turned to the Warm Springs Correctional Center for help, according to KOLO-TV

Now, three inmates are helping take care of the kittens.

The inmates are serving time for robbery and theft and they say they can't believe the effect the animals are having on them.

Inmate George Greene says he believes he will leave the prison and not be bitter.

Inmate Victor Meden says the kittens help him feel like he is not in prison sometimes.

The kittens will only be there for a few more weeks, but the inmates are hoping the shelter will bring them more.

All of the men involved in the Inmates Nursing Kittens are veterans and part of a larger program to help veterans behind bars.
