The Mohave County Sheriff's Office arrested 59-year-old Douglas Wayne Gleason of Yucca, Arizona, on Oct. 30 for 2nd degree murder.

MCSO says that they received a call from the man's wife shortly before 7 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies were told that Gleason had assaulted his wife and her 65-year-old brother. However, Gleason had left the residence before deputies arrived.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., the sheriff's office received another call. When they arrived, the house was dark. Upon entry, they observed Gleason's wife, Merri Gay Blackwell, lying on the living room floor and her brother, David Bruce Winebrenner, sitting on the couch with blood on his head.

A perimeter was established around the house and Gleason eventually surrendered.

Blackwell was airlifted to University Medical Center and is in critical condition. Her brother was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.

Gleason was transported and booked into Mohave County jail.

The case is still under investigation and autopsy results are pending.
