Winds bring down trees, branches in Henderson

Posted

Windy conditions led to a tree falling down in Henderson Thursday afternoon.

A large tree fell in the yard of a home near Green Valley and Paseo Verde parkways with the branches falling on the road. Crews have already been to home to chop up the tree and clean up the damage.

Not too far away, a large branch came down in front of a home near the 215 Beltway and Valle Verde Drive.

The homeowner says she heard some rain and then went and looked out the window. She then noticed how windy it was and jumped back as the tree branch snapped and fell on her house.

"It sounded like a freight train. Just this horrible roaring," Mary Gilmore said. "Then a snap and a boom, pretty dramatic."

The tree fell right in the entryway, possibly breaking some roof tiles.

A crew is coming out Friday to clean up the mess.
